HDR programme and ST study days

If you have a problem during your ST2 GP placement, please contact Sasha.

The ST2s have a separate HDR programme which is for ST2s in their GP placement. We will be looking in detail at the consultation during HDR. We will cover consultation models and  communications skills,  and learn from video analysis and group work. We also plan to offer some chronic disease management during the ST2 programme. The programme will be flexible, according to your learning needs, so please do feedback if there is anything you would especially like to be covered.

Half day release sessions start at 2pm, please be prompt. A sandwich lunch is provided from 1.30pm. Finish time is 5pm. If you cannot attend a session, please let Sasha know by email.

All ST2s will be expected to attend induction and all the ST study days which are on a 3 year rolling programme (highlighted below in yellow). Please remember to tell your trainer or consultant that you will be out of the practice/hospital for the whole day on these occassions. Lunches are provided.

All day sessions are highlighted in yellow

OOH sessions

After each session, you will need to fill in your OOH book and get it signed by your OOH supervisor. The book will also need to be signed by your trainer. You will have an OOH supervisor at all times when you are on call.

You must complete your OOH by mid May in ST3 so that you can pass the ARCP panel, so please book your places as soon as possible. Failure to complete may well lead to a delay in your CCT. In ST2 GP, you will need to have booked all your OOH sessions and completed most of them by the time you have your ES review.

You will need to complete 72 hours in OOH over a 12/12 attachement; 36 in a 6/12 attachement. Less than full time trainees will work a pro-rata number of OOH sessions.
