Our hospital posts are based mainly at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny and The Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. We do our best to offer you the posts which meet your educational needs and at the site of your choice. Medicine posts are also based at Caerphilly Miners Hospital and Psychiatry posts are based throughtout Gwent.

If you have a preference to work for a particular consultant, contact Medical Personnel in the relevant hospital. We can make no promises as the decision lies with the hospital and not with the scheme. It may also be helpful to speak to a doctor already in that post. All posts have a unique number which you must quote on your VTR2 form when applying for registration with the RCGP and PMETB. For further details of all the hospitals see the trust website:

CORE CURRICULUM TRAINING

As part of your teaching you are expected to attend regular study days organised by the scheme. You must apply for study leave well in advance and plan ahead.  Your attendance at these sessions is compulsory.

These sessions cover areas of the RCGP curriculum which may not be covered elsewhere in your training.
